Obama’s Kids Hate Daniel Handler…

Not psyched about it
Alright, no more politics/literature collusion on here after this. A fundraiser for Obama was held by Michael Chabon, Dave Eggers, Mr. Handler, and a few other book celebs. Obama, though, had to admit that the closest his children got to the Lemony Snicket books was the Jim Carrey movie. Handler claims he would have lied to Obama had it been the other way around, but since I didn’t know what Audacity meant until six months ago, I don’t think anyone can blame kids for skipping one of the senator’s books.
But let’s hope his daughters at least read some Judy Blume. I mean, who doesn’t love Judy Blume? I’ve never felt the need to increase my bust, but I still know the woman has been an invaluable writer for children and teenagers. This interview makes me respect Ms. Blume even more, and unless you’re some sort of He-man woman hater, you should read about her writing and continuing struggle to make my mom uncomfortable.
Khaled Hosseini reads from The Kite Runner and The Guardian readers trash him.
And finally Rake has peeked his head out and succinctly covered many recent lit. topics and defends some of his more… verbose opinions. Of course you should read it. And what’s this Rake guy’s deal? I picture him living in the mountains with a couple years growth of beard.
